Sick...Hate it!

I'm so tired of being sick or having sick children. Mind you, we don't get sick that often, so when it hits - it hits hard! Daughter came down with a fever and nasty cough over the weekend, then missed a day and half of school. Can't do that when the high school is on the block system. Then Son caught it yesterday and missed the afternoon & today. Can't do that, although, not as bad as Daughter missing classes. I've been trying to fight it off - unsuccessfully. So far, Hubby hasn't caught it. Thank goodness!

Whatever this crud is, it's running rampant through the schools - as is the flu.

And to top it off, the high school has an automated phone system that calls parents to let them know that their child missed one or more classes that particular day. Guess it's a godsend for those who have children that are chronic skippers. Thankfully, she isn't one of them.

I'll be glad when I can air out the house. Come on spring!

Brrrr...

It's absolutely frigid here today. All last week the weather geeks were predicting measurable snowfall for us here in the Rocket City. Lo and behold, we DIDN'T get a flake. We did, however, get slapped with the arctic temperatures.

On the upside, it's a great day to watch football (in the house). I saw where Green Bay's low this morning was 5 below zero. Glad that I'm here and NOT in Green Bay.

Go Brett!!!

Gotta love...

Football in the snow. I don't know what it is about a watching a football game being played in snow, but I can't get enough of it. If you didn't get to see the Seattle/Green Bay game today, you missed a really good game and it was played in the SNOW! Way to go Brett!!! Time to take out those Cowboys!

Voyeur?!

Apparently that's going to be a new part of my job description when I go back to work. The school where I work recently put in security cameras among other security upgrades. I've heard that I will be the lucky one who gets to monitor said cameras. Great! NOT! I don't relish the idea of watching other people. Make me feel like I'm spying on them...oh, wait - I am.

Hmmm...maybe it's time to start looking for another position or better yet, work from home! Now, I only have to decide what I'd like to do from home. I'll get back to you on that one.

Happy New Year!!!

It is my wish for you for a very prosperous and Happy 2008!
I'm looking forward to the many changes I have in store for myself and my family. The biggest of which is a milestone birthday for me. I'm not sure how I feel about turning FORTY in February, so over the course of the next month I will be sharing my thoughts on this BIG birthday.
My resolutions for 2008 (not in any particular order):
* Get my weight under control (includes exercise & lifestyle changes)
* Plan my flower beds (I'm still fussing with the backyard dynamics)
* Travel to Washington DC with Hubby & Kids
* Check out the Gulf Coast beaches (we've been in AL for 17 1/2 years and have never been)
I'm open to suggestions for a couple of long weekend trips
*Be a better friend!
*Add some color to the kitchen - this doesn't mean splashing while I'm cooking, either.
*Cook more sit down dinners for family and friends
I'm sure that I'll come up with many more things that I want to do, but these will get me started.
Ciao!
