Things they are a changin'...

I was informed today that next year my duties at work will be changing - drastically. I can't be anymore specific than this because there hasn't been an "official" announcement yet. You know how school bureaucracy can be. Suffice it to say that it will be much less stress for me and much more for my co-hort in crime (and dear friend) come this fall.

I don't know how I feel about this, but I will have time to decide if it's something that I really want to do.

Spring has Sprung!

So have the allergies. I'm not going to let that stop me from getting out and enjoying the gorgeous weather. Last Saturday was absolutely beautiful here in No. AL and I went to my favorite nursery to get started on my yearly planting.

Now, I'm looking foward to getting out and getting my hands dirty. There goes the manicure - I hate wearing gloves when working in the garden. I hope to post some pictures of my handiwork soon.

WARNING!!

The girl officially has her driver's permit. She and I went yesterday morning to get it. You have been warned. LOL It's gonna be an adventure and I'm going to have A LOT more gray hairs on my head.

Ummm...the driver's license office is a great place to people watch. I saw lots of people there to get their licenses reinstated and several of our spanish-speaking residents to get their license/or something. Apparently, the DMV puts their employees through a crash course (pun intended) on how to be rude to the public. Good grief - it doesn't hurt to smile and be polite. Or does it?

On to the great adventure of teaching a teenager how to drive. Good thing there are plenty of empty parking lots on which to practice around here.

100th Post!

Didn't know that I was that close to a milestone - 100 posts. Woo!Hoo!

Anyway, it's Spring Break! Yippee!!! I don't have to get up before the chickens for a whole week. Not much planned - except to take my 15 year old to get her learner's permit and work in the yard (weather permitting). Wait a minute - I'm not old enough to have a 15 year old. Just kidding! I am old enough, it's just I don't want her to grow up so fast. Next thing you know, she'll be heading off to college. *Sigh*

There probably won't be much posting done this week, as I'm hoping to be outside enjoying the nice weather.

It's Official

I've got the crud. Not the flu or bronchitis - just the crud. My instructions are lots of fluids and plenty of rest. Duh! I'm doing that - well, sort of. I feel like a slug when I lay around too much.

I was told that I have to stay home tomorrow because I'm contagious. Gee, I wish everyone who has the crud/flu/etc would do the same thing then we could all get healthy again. At least, I won't be coughing on anyone at work.

Now, the Boy has it. Hmmm...do I take him to the doctor or save myself the co-pay and treat his symptoms at home. I'm thinking...treat him at home.

Stay healthy, y'all.

Ugh! I feel awful...

A big mistake on my part thinking I'd made it through the winter without getting seriously sick. I try to stay healthy by exercising regularly and eating right. Up until now, I've only had one cold (yippee). Ha!!! I've got this funky chest cold (at least, I think that's what it is) and a 101 fever. I'm off to the doctor today because I feel like I did when I had bronchitis several years ago. Let's hope that's not what it is - I hate being sick.

Moms aren't supposed to get sick - *snicker*. I'm a terrible patient 'cuz I can't seem to make myself go to bed when there are things to be done - supervise homework, cook meals, etc. Don't get me wrong, Hubby is wonderful when it comes to taking care of all of this when I'm under the weather - it's just that I feel like I'm slacking when I'm not taking care of everyone and everything.

My head and chest hurt from all this coughing. I'm going back to bed.

Movie, taxes and dinner

Today, the Girl and I went to see The Other Boleyn Girl. I have read the book and loved it. I went in knowing that books made into movies don't always translate well. This one seemed to follow the book, although it left out some crucial background information in my opinion. My mental image of King Henry definitely didn't match the movies image. This actor wasn't nearly as repulsive as I imagined him to be - thank goodness. Natalie Portman as Anne Boleyn was perfect - dark featured and petite. From now on whenever I read about Anne Boleyn, Natalie's face will appear. I'm not quite sure what to think of Scarlett Johansson as Mary Boleyn. She played the part well, but something wasn't quite right. It was an enjoyable movie overall and the Girl really enjoyed it.

The taxes are done and filed. Thank goodness. I'm much later than usual in filing them. The task is finished and I can relax until next year's tax season.

Now, it's off to fix dinner. I think we'll have burgers on the grill. Yum!

Tired!

It has been a day...

Hubby and I have spent the better part of our Saturday at the doc in the box. Why?...you might ask...

He said that he felt this morning like he did in February 1998 when he was diagnosed with double pneumonia (then it turned out that he was septic, too). So, off we went to the doc in the box because I didn't want him to spend a week in the hospital - emotionally, I don't think that I can handle it again. Thankfully, he only has a sinus infection. I don't think that I could stand having him in the hospital, again. He's on antibiotics and steroids, but if he's not significantly better by Wednesday he's going back to the doctor. He has to get better!!!

And this time, my parents are coming to help out(when needed)!
