High School schedules

Today, Hubby and I had a meeting with the girl's TAP advisor to set up her sophomore year schedule. Mind you - I don't remember my parents going with me to select my classes during high school. I don't know how to explain a TAP advisor, except to say that it's kind of like a home room teacher that doesn't meet with her/his students every day.

It's really cool what classes today's high school students can take. Horticulture, zoology, marine biology - just to name a few. I'd have loved to be able to take those classes. Though - marine biology would've been a tough one considering I was living in Minnesota at the time.

We've set her up to graduate with an advanced diploma. If she stays on track, she will be able to take college courses at the high school during her senior year and be able to graduate early. She really likes that idea - I'm not sure that I'm ready for that, yet...

It's hard to believe that she's almost completed her first year of high school and that she'll be driving soon. Where has the time gone?!

Yeah! It's Friday!

This has got to be the longest week. EVER! I'm not sure why, but I'm sure glad it's over. Well, here's one reason why...

We've been in limbo since late January at work, when our bookkeeper/secretary was moved to her new position. Not sure what the history is between her and my boss, but whatever it was it hit a climax just before Christmas. My first impressions of people are pretty spot on and mine of my former co-worker hit the nail on the head. While she was friendly to your face, there was something lurking underneath the surface. I could never put my finger on it, but I knew enough not to trust her implicitly. I had heard through the grapevine about her threats that she had access to all of our personal & confidential information and wasn't afraid to use it. That raised red flags right there. I was nice to her, but definitely kept my distance. Since she's been gone, I've heard that she isn't very happy in her new position. Maybe she should've learned not to bite the hand that feeds her.

The point of this post is that our new bookkeeper/secretary joined us yesterday. What my co-worker and I can't figure out is why our boss moved the bookkeeper's office half-way down the hall. Our boss wants us all to work as a team - well, when a third of the team isn't readily available it makes it difficult. Our BK/S is very sweet - I've been helping her learn how to receipt money that comes in daily (it was one of my duties while we were in limbo). Bless her heart - she's just been thrown into it and she's just a little overwhelmed. I'm hoping that all works out well and we can be the team that our boss wants us to be. I'm definitely going to give it the ol' college try.

Here's to new beginnings...3/4 of the way through the school year!

It's my birthday...

Yeah!

Okay - I don't feel any different today at 40 than I did yesterday at 39! I expected to wake up this morning and not be able to read a damn thing. 'Cuz ya know your eyesight is the first thing to go. Well, I can still read the fine print - most of the time anyway. Some of the fine print is way to small to read even with a magnifying glass.

I have really enjoyed my day. My mom called me, Hubby came to lunch and my co-workers had a blast ribbing me.

Now, it's off to dinner at my favorite restaurant - Sazio! Yum!!!

I can relate to this...

http://www.fborfw.com/strip_fix/archives/002958.php

Today's For Better or For Worse strip reflects me and the girl in the near future. D is now old enough to get her learner's permit. I will be taking her to get her permit over Spring Break. Wait...she can't be that old, can she?

I remember learning to drive. My mom took me out in our '65 Mustang, which by the way was a straight shift. Looking back it was hysterical, but then whenever Mom and I did things together it usually was (wallpapering the bathroom, etc). I just hope that D can look back on learning to drive as a fun and funny experience.

Now, where's that hair color. I'm gonna need it!

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Today is my mom's birthday! I called her earlier to wish her "Happy Birthday." After I hung up, I got to thinking about how nice it would be to see her. The only thing that separates us is distance - she lives in Arizona and I live in No. Alabama. *sniff* I hoping to take the kids to visit Mom & Dad during summer vacation this year. Until then...

Happy Birthday, Mom!

I Love You!!!
