It's finally here...

Fall, that is! While most would think that a week of cool, cloudy and damp/rainy weather is awful, but I love it. We've finally gotten some rain, although not nearly enough to ease the drought. The ducks on the lake are enjoying the weather, too. I heard them this morning quacking away. I could go on and on.

Happy Fall!

What Kind of Pet Would I Be...

You Would Be a Pet Dog

You're friendly, loyal, and an all around good sport. People love to be near you.

You are very open with your feelings, and you're quite vocal in expressing them.

You are sincere and kind. You love many people - without any sort of agenda.

Why you would make a great pet: You're content to chill out with your friends

Why you would make a bad pet: You always find yourself getting into trouble

What you would love about being a dog: Running around and playing

What you would hate about being a dog: Being left home alone while everyone else is out having fun

I'm okay with this. I love dogs, so being one wouldn't be too bad. :)

45 miscellaneous things you may not know about me

I stole this meme from Saintseester, who stole it from Tense Teacher (the queen of the memes). I needed something low-impact to do this afternoon after doing the Liz Hurley Ribbon Run this morning. Found out how out of shape I really am - even though I do the elliptical most days of the week for 45 minutes.

What’s your name spelled backwards?
mom or evit8nza

What did you do last night?
Made focaccia and watched Monty Python's The Meaning of Life. Funny, but very strange.

The last thing you downloaded onto your computer?
emoticons for my IM.

Have you ever licked a 9 volt battery?
Yes! It tasted metallic - duh!

Last time you swam in a pool?
Labor Day - it was HOT and the pool felt sooooo good.

What are you wearing?
T-shirt from Liz Hurly run, lavendar sweatpants and my favorite tennies.

How many cars have you owned?
Hmmm...let me think. 4 - '78 Camaro, '88 red Mustang Convertible (hubby bought it for me as a wedding gift in '89 b/c he hated my Camaro), '91 Explorer and '00 Windstar. I'm ready for something new (or newer used) - tired of the mom-mobile.

Type of music you dislike most?
Most country, all rap and christian pop. Like seester said, it's annoying.

Are you registered to vote?
Yes.

Do you have cable?
Does satellite count?

What kind of computer do you use?
At home, a Gateway. At work, haven't got a clue - I work for the school system, so I guess it's whatever they could get a good deal on.

Ever made a prank phone call?
Yes and as a teenager, I tp'd lots of houses. ;)

You like anyone right now?
You mean, besides my husband?! Lots of people, except those annoying parents who think the school rules/regulations don't apply to them.

Would you go bungee jumping or sky diving?
ABSOLUTELY NOT! I like keeping both my feet on the ground, thank you very much.

Furthest place you ever traveled?
This is funny - Tijuana, Mexico. My husband, however, has been to Torino, Italy; Bremen, Germany and Nagoya, Japan. Of course, they were all business trips and I was unable to go with him.

What’s your favorite comic strip?
For Better or For Worse and Calvin & Hobbes

Do you know all the words to the national anthem?
Yes, but the young lady singing this morning didn't!

Shower, morning or night?
In the morning and after going to the gym/working in the yard.

Best movie you’ve seen in the past month?
Not one.

Favorite pizza toppings?
Mozzarella cheese, prosciutto and green olives. No tomato sauce - gives me heartburn.

Popcorn, of course!

Verizon

Eeewwww...no.

My daughter today after the Ribbon Run.

Favorite chocolate bar?
I have to choose a favorite?! Okay...a Dove dark chocolate bar.

It would have to be my two girlfriends from high school - 23 years. We don't get to see each other anymore b/c they live in MN and I live here in No. AL, but we keep in touch via email.

Last time you ate a homegrown tomato?
In September, just before the plants went belly up from the drought.

No, but I won a Science Medal in High School. Funny, I can't remember why though.

Favorite arcade game?
PacMan

Ever ordered from an infomercial?

No, but I think they are a good idea.

Last thing you bought at Walgreens?
Have never shopped in a Walgreens.

Ever thrown up in public?
Yes, on the flight home from North Carolina to Arizona in 1990. I think it was from the chicken salad I ate the evening before.

Neither

Did you have long hair as a young kid?
No - I don't have the patience for growing my hair much past my chin.

What message is on your voicemail machine?
"You’ve reached ###-###-####, please leave your name & number after the tone and we'll return your call ASAP. Thanks and have a great day!" We use it to screen all phone calls.

Flop on the couch and watch SEC football.

What's the name of your pet?
Our cockapoo was named Hobbes. She passed away in 2000. *sniff* No pets since then.

My favorite purse is turquiose & cocoa brown that my Mom gave me for Christmas last year.

What do you think about most?
Besides my family, it's what I need to do next. I'm always trying to stay one step ahead of the game.

Inspired

I was just reading one of my favorite blogs, Southern Circle of Hell. She has inspired me to work really hard to get back into shape for my BIG birthday in February. I have struggled with my weight ever since having my two beautiful children, who are now 12 and almost 15. I'm feeling the pressure of turning 40 and NOT wanting to be overweight anymore. I know that I can do it because I lost 40 pounds when we first moved to Alabama. I just needed something to really motivate me - not like having to take bp & cholesterol meds wasn't enough.

So, the countdown to 40 begins. I have 16 weeks to really make a difference. While I won't post my actual weight, I will post how much I have lost each week. Look for weekly updates beginning October 24th.

In Honor of Halloween...

here are a few "quizzes" to make you laugh. Well, they made me laugh.

Your Monster Profile
Death Fiend

You Feast On: Starbucks Coffee

You Lurk Around In: Target

You Especially Like to Torment: My kids

Bwahahaha! That's hysterical - I feel that way before I've had my morning coffee.

You Are a Little Scary

You've got a nice edge to you. Use it.

Darn...I thought I was pretty scary. Well, I can be - just ask my kids.

You Could Not Be a Vampire
Sorry, but you're not just cut out for flesh eating, turning into a bat, and living forever.
But that's okay. The sight of blood turns your stomach... without even thinking of drinking it.
And while you definitely would never be a vampire, you're exactly the type of frail prey Dracula wannabe's crave.
Maybe it's time to arm yourself with a cross and some nasty garlic breath!

What you would like best about being a vampire: The raw power (though you wouldn't admit it to anyone)

What you would like least about being a vampire: The whole killing thing

Yippee!!!

It's the start of Fall break for us here in No. AL. What this means is it's the end of the first nine weeks of school and we need a break. Kinda like Christmas & Spring break. When the school systems originally worked this week-long break into the school-year, I was against it. The kids had just started back and well, it just seemed to me like a waste of time. However now that I'm working in the school system, I am all for the break. We don't have much planned for our week off, which is the way I like it. Maybe we'll take in a movie or two and do some shopping. Or we'll just loaf around the house.

To all who have a fall break, enjoy! To those who don't, we'll think of you while sitting on the beach wishing you were here.

Fall

You Are Fall Flowers

Beautiful yet often forgotten.

Not sure that I like this answer. I do, however, love all the fall flowers and watching the leaves change. I wonder what kind of fall we'll have this year since we haven't had much rain lately. Guess I'll just have to wait & see.
