Happy Thanksgiving, y'all!!!

Thanksgiving preparations are in full swing here at AZn8tive house!

Thanksgiving has to be my favorite holiday. It's because it meant that my entire family gathered at my grandmother's house to enjoy some wonderful cooking and conversation. This will be my first Thanksgiving without my grandmother. While it makes me sad, I know that she's smiling and enjoying all the preparations with us. I wish that my parents and brother & sister-in-law could be here with us in person, but they'll be here in spirit. Love you!!!

I hope that this Thanksgiving finds you spending it with the ones that mean the most to you.

Sigh...

There are days I wish that my almost-16 year old daughter was a toddler. At least then she didn't argue, cop an attitude all the time, I could put her down for a nap when she really needed it or just hold her until she calmed down. Alas, I must learn to deal with the wild mood swings and I'm not doing a very good job at it right now. I don't remember having such mood swings, although, I'm sure that I had my fair share of them.

But, my goodness! I get whiplash just talking to her sometimes.

I know that I've only got her at home for a few more years, so I will do my best to handle the swings. Hopefully, I'll get better at it.

But right now...

I'm feeling a little overwhelmed.

Decorating for Christmas!

It's time to start the decorating!

And I thought I'd start here.

Tag!

WooHoo!!! I've been tagged by one of my favorite bloggers, FarmChick! I'm honored. :) Anyway, I'm supposed to select 7 random/weird things about myself. Hmmm...now which ones to pick.

1. I used to clean my house top to bottom every Tuesday. I'm not sure why I picked Tuesday. Maybe because it's not Monday?! Since I went back to work, I do a little cleaning each day.

2. Cardinals are my favorite bird, followed closely by owls.

3. I haven't read the final installment in the Harry Potter series.

4. Tossed about the idea of naming our daughter, Calvin, to go along with our cockapoo, Hobbes.

5. I love hazelnuts!

6. I still have the bunny my mom bought me when I was 2. She's pretty ragged now!

7. I'm addicted to wrought iron and metal works. Hubby keeps threatening to reinforce the floor if I come home with anymore.

My instructions are to include the 4th picture from my 4th file. Enjoy!

It really does snow in Southern Arizona!

I hope that Saintseester and WmWms will play along, too.

Law Enforcement goes Pink!

Check this out: Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arapaio makes all the prisoners wear pink undies.

I thought this was a great idea when it first hit the news several years ago. Sheriff Joe, also, has the prisoners sleep in tents and eat bologna sandwiches at lunch and dinner, or so the story goes.

Gotta love him!

This is so me...

funny pictures of cats with captions

Especially in the morning taking my kids to school. Lordy, but there are a bunch of crazy drivers here.

However, I need to be careful because I have an impressionable, new driver in the house. Sometimes, she's worse than me.

What was she thinking?

Michelle Obama is a very elegant woman and usually dresses the part. However, I do have to question her choice of dress on election evening. This dress is so unattractive.

Football

This past Saturday, my daughter, C, was invited to the Alabama-Arkansas State game by her boyfriend, M, and his parents. Much to my amazement...she wanted to go, but not because it was a football game. ;) See - the girl is not a football fan. What's that you say?! Not a football fan? Nope...she's not. I find it hard to believe, as Hubby and I love football. But I digress...

She was able to spend the entire day with her boyfriend. He and his parents came to get her at 7:30am and returned her to us, safe and sound, at 11:00pm. C had a BLAST! She got to experience football at it's best - an undefeated team's homecoming game where they shut out their opponent 35-0. She said the half-time show was fantastic. The food was great, too - she had a blackened chicken sandwich and dippin' dots. She and M slept on the return trip and then had pizza at his house before he brought her home.

What has amazed me the most is that I didn't even think twice about her going to the game without me or her dad. I've met her boyfriend's parents and Hubby worked with M's mom - they're very nice. I suppose it I hadn't met them she wouldn't have gone.

Sigh...she's growing up way too fast. I'm thrilled to see her so happy. Her boyfriend is a very sweet, well-mannered young man.
