School's been cancelled until 5/4/09!
The boy is VERY disappointed because the band trip has been cancelled.
Repeat after me "Don't PANIC"!
Unfortunately, the general public isn't heeding that mantra. Masks and hand sanitizer is flying off the shelves. Hmmm...wonder if the milk and bread is gone, too?!

Just go with it...
Laundry, packing and everything that comes with going out of town.
That's what I've been doing since the ILs left yesterday.
I feel out of control...
Usually, I've got all the laundry done and have done the preliminary packing. But not this time.
And now, I'm stressing about being among strangers with the threat of H1N1 hovering. I REALLY don't like crowds.
Guess what else I'm adding to the suitcase...
Lots of hand sanitizer and Lysol!
I know that everything will go swimmingly and the kids will have a GRAND time.

Sparse postings...
My postings for the next week or so are gonna be sparse.
The weather is perfect for working in the yard. Love digging in the dirt.
Traveling to Dollywood for the Advanced Band to perform. I'm so proud of my son!!!
Trying to catch up from being out of town and working in the yard. Oh, well...such is life.
Hopefully, I'll have lots of good pictures from the band trip and my efforts in the yard to share with y'all.

Things I witnessed today...
because it is raining.
From my back patio, I witnessed:
*a Great Blue heron catch and eat a small catfish (or maybe it was a brim).
*a Red-wing black bird chase the aforementioned heron.
*a pair of mallards lazily cruising the pond.
*several NOISY Canada geese come and go (lordy, I dislike those birds).
*and last, but certainly not least, a couple of young people fishing at the other end of the pond.
I'm still waiting for our bullfrogs to make their annual appearance. That's when I know that warmer weather is here to stay. Hmmm...I wonder if we'll have any tree frogs this year.

It's raining
...again!
While I enjoy a rainy day as much as the next person, I'm really tired of giving up half of my weekends to it.
I managed to get a lot accomplished yesterday, mainly because I knew that it was going to be icky today.
On the bright side...I didn't have to water anything that I planted yesterday as Mother Nature is taking care of it today. :)

Grace AND Finesse NOT!!!
This is what happens when you slip off the patio and land in the flowerbed. Or at least it does for me. I'm very fortunate that I didn't really hurt myself - can't say the same for the lilies that broke my fall. My right knee is sore along with my left foot, but alas it could've been a lot worse. You know...I don't recall the last time I fell and actually hurt myself.
I did, however, provide some comic relief for my kids, who were working in another flower bed; as well as a couple of neighbors...I think.
Note to self - don't walk along the edge of the patio.

31 days...
and counting!
That's how many school days are left in the 2008-2009 school year. I, on the other hand, only have 29 days left because I'm chaperoning my son's band trip. Woot!!!
I have never wanted a school year to come to an end so quickly as I do this one. I believe it's because I have been blessed (or cursed) with an inability to say "NO" when someone asks for help.
I'm way too nice for my own good.
Come on summer!!!
